There is a difference on opinion where watching TV in bed is concerned. Many people will tell you that they only fall asleep whilst watching the telly but other people will say that they cannot stand to have it on as it only keeps them awake.
So what is the truth of the matter? I think in all reality it depends on the people involved and on a couple of other things that I will mention.
There are some useful tips for getting yourself off to sleep while watching TV. TV could be a great method for aiding sleep if done properly.
When people try to fall asleep to their telly, they normally make at least one of three mistakes that i am going to mention.
A few will always forget to put the sleep timer on. It is a silly idea not to turn this on; as it will mean that, you have to get up to switch the TV off later on, which will defeat the object entirely.
If you set the timer for a couple of hours then by that time you should be asleep already once it switches off.
Also, don’t have it up so loud that the neighbours can hear it, for obvious reasons, but also you shouldn’t have it on too low that you are having trouble to hear it yourself as you will end up lying there awake and ignoring the TV completely so you might as well not have it on at all. Try to find a volume that is somewhere in between the two that your body can relax to.
The next thing is something people always forget, if you decide to watch something that interests you a lot then you will end up distracted from your sleep by the sounds of things that are attracting you too much, your definitely not going to sleep like that.
It’s fine to watch something interesting but try not to be distracted every couple of minutes to the point where your no longer interested in sleep but in watching the TV. Ideally, it should be something you don’t mind watching but not something that you really want to watch.
