It is very important for a mother to develop a strong bonding with the child taking into account that this bond or attachment starts when the baby is still in the womb. Two types of attachment are: the secure and insecure.

When a baby feels the secure attachment to the mother, it is the healthiest thing to happen because it leads to higher self esteem as well as level of trust. The opposite is true of the insecure attachments because they usually lead to social difficulties. Childcare experts keep repeating the importance of developing a secure bond with a child for the sake of the baby plus the mother.

You may be asking how this is so. It starts with the time the baby is still in its mother’s womb; and that is the reason why expectant mothers ought to take care of themselves by getting enough sleep and support. The child in the womb actually gets affected when the mother is troubled and unhappy. The end result is that when the baby is born, the child forms an insecure attachment to the mother.

After getting the baby, the mother needs to have some time away from the baby for her to get enough rest because a well rested mother normally feels less stress. It is going to help her to bond well with the baby.

If mother gets enough time with the baby during feeding and rest times, it helps the kid to get attached to her.

Babies bond well with their mothers when their needs are responded to effectively and in a timely way. They can also bond well when they are fed regularly and not allowed to remain hungry and agitated because they would end up being insecure.

Many mothers know how to tell the feelings of the baby, by just looking at their facial expressions and their behaviors. When the same needs are met promptly and effectively, the babies get attached to their mothers in a positive manner.

It is important to note that all parents love their children. So they should take care of not only the short-term needs of the child but also the long term effects of making the child feel secure attachment and thus a healthy bond.
