Your wife feels isolated and lonely and she is struggling with body image issues and low self-esteem. She needs you to be there for her. She needs to know that you can take on the hard jobs and are willing to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty – so to speak. So, be willing to carry that baby bag. Get involved if you want love. Don’t be worried about changing the diaper – this is the simple part. Nurses at the hospital will help you with questions. There are lots of videos and forums and checklists on the internet. Lots of resources for you. Start becoming an expert. Start getting informed. Start planning and getting things together for baby. You are going to need changing table, diaper bucket, supply of diapers. You will need bottles – get the 4 ouncers to begin with. Get lots of antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer too. You need really clean hands to feed a baby, and you will want clean hands after you change a diaper. Don’t shoot the messenger – it’s true; those awful “code browns” can get ugly if you aren’t ready. Get some nice things for your partner, too. This will help take the stress off.
Pamper your partner, don’t diaper her. Indulge and spoil her.
Buying lingerie would be fun for YOU, but that’s not what she needs right now. Go pick up some things for her that will make HER relax. Shampoos and rinses. Nice smelly lotions. Nail Stuff. You know all the girly things she liked to do before she got pregnant. Clothes, makeup and shoes are investments women make in their happiness. When she sees you putting in the work and “getting it” – it will help her re-ignite the flame in the bedroom.
